Yosemite area artist Jean Hammond lives forty minutes from the Big Oak Flat Gate to Yosemite National Park. She has been greatly inspired in her painting by the extraordinary beauty of the park and surrounding environment.

Jean started her training as an artist the summer of 1943, while attending the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

After graduation from Lowell High School, Jean majored in Art at the University of California in San Francsico and Hayward. She received an Adult Education Credential from U. C. Berkeley and has been teaching art in the San Leandro, Fremont and Union City adult schools for over twenty years.

Jean's paintings have been on display in numerous galleries, shows and in private collections.
